Izote initiated first National public library in
San Hilarios, Bajo Lempa.

We started out with a three day Cataract Surgery mission at San Pedro National Hospital in Usulutan, El Salvador.  Surgeries were performed by staff ophthalmologist Dr. Rafael Lopez Bermudez and Izote board member Dr. Robert Appel, with offices in Glen Cove and Syosset, New York.

The ophthalmology surgical mission restored vision to 21 cataract patients.

Following the cataract mission, the Izote team visited some of the 25 libraries we are helping to establish in rural schools and communities.
