Izote equipped Dr. Lopez's ophthalmic clinic used for surgical pre-screenings.  Izote provided all the equipment and instruments that have enabled Dr. Lopez to perform ophthalmic surgery for the first time at the hospital, which he is now doing on a year round basis.

Izote initiated first National public library in
San Hilarios, Bajo Lempa.

We started out with a three day Cataract Surgery mission at San Pedro National Hospital in Usulutan, El Salvador.  Surgeries were performed by staff ophthalmologist Dr. Rafael Lopez Bermudez and Izote board member Dr. Robert Appel, with offices in Glen Cove and Syosset, New York.

The ophthalmology surgical mission restored vision to 21 cataract patients.

Following the cataract mission, the Izote team visited some of the 25 libraries we are helping to establish in rural schools and communities.
