Our library project is moving forward.  25 schools and 3 communities have been designated as recipients of the newly launching library program.  Teacher and volunteer library staff training has begun and the first training session took place in mid-April in Zacatecaluca and Jiquilisco.  

We are now gearing up for our June 2013 Izote Cataract Eye Surgery trip led by Dr. Robert Appel.

This year there will be about 40 cataract surgeries performed during the San Pedro Hospital, Asociacion Mangle, Izote collaborative mission three day mission.

And of course, Dr. Rafael Lopez of San Pedro Hospital continues to operate on ophthalmic patients all year long with the Izote supplied equipment!

Also in mid April, Dr. Rafael Lopez performed emergency surgery on this 23 year carpenter to remove a staple shard from his eye and the eye was saved.  The young man benefitted from the talent and dedication of Dr. Lopez and the Izote donated instruments and equipment.
